Title: Phlebotomist/Collector

Report To: Director/Office Manager
Full/Part-Time: Full-Time
Job Summary:
Perform clerical and clinical duties to include specimen collections, scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, taking, and recording vital signs, drawing blood, and clerical duties to include a combination of answering telephones, bookkeeping, typing and word processing, office machine operation, and filing. Onsite collections will occasionally be required. Dependable transportation for onsite collection is required.
Job Functions:
40% Perform drug screen collections from Urine, Hair Nails, Saliva, and DNA Collections
20% Greet and log in clients arriving at the office. Perform general office duties such as answering telephones and data entry.
30% Collect blood, finger sticks, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens and prepare them for testing.
10% Perform routine laboratory exams, clean, and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. Perform additional duties as needed.
General Job Responsibilities:
- Perform mobile specimen collections for clients.
- Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
- Interview patients to obtain medical information, and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the provider.
- Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
- Act as a professional and knowledgeable representative of Universal Screen
- Maintain client’s records.
- Inventory medical supplies or instruments.
- Assure literature and samples are kept stocked and organized.
- Make suggestions to improve productivity and sales.
· Provide written/verbal reports on contacts made.
· Perform collections as needed.
· Perform other office duties as needed.
· Must be able to travel.
· Must be able to work on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

· Knowledge of all collection procedures.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
· Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.
· Get certified to perform Urine and other specimen collections with knowledge of all the rules that apply.
Credentials and Experience:
· Good communication skills.
· Ability to handle stressful situations.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Word, and Excel.
· Demonstration of adequate math skills and the ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written communication from supervisor and coworkers.
· Knowledge of medical terminology.
Requirements for the Job
- Must be able to pass the Hair Follicle Test
- Must be able to travel.
- Must be able to work on Saturday from 9:00 am – 11:00 am
- 2+ years of active work history as a Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist.
